Staying In Love

In high school, while going through the struggle of dating or rather, why no one would date me. Dad gave me some crucial advice that changed my total thinking. Almost haunted me. haha.

He said, "Faith Ann, you can fall in love with anyone."

You have to be so careful with who let into your heart.

It scared me. It doesn't take long for our human flesh to fall for someone, even the wrong someone.

The hard part though, is staying in love after you have found "the one".

I love my marriage. I love Jaime. I love the love we have together. I like that we play more than fight. I love that he's my best friend. He's so easy to love, it's almost impossible to stay mad at him for very long.

But.

But, marriage isn't all roses and rainbows. Sometimes, it's really hard. Two imperfect people who are building our relationship in a world that says "Hey, if you don't like what's going on in your marriage, you're not happy, or it's getting hard; find someone new." It's scary that most marriage's don't make it.

I wanted to share some podcasts that were recently shared with me from my cousin Tiffany. She's always been the big sister I never had. She was married two years before I was and has shared lots of good, Godly wisdom with me over the years. Along with other wisdom. Ha! ;)

Andy Stanley has a four part series called "Staying In Love". I never listened to podcasts before but I'm definitely going to now. This series is so good and each one is only 30 minutes long. Even Jaime listened to them on his commute to and from work.

Staying In Love Part 1

Staying In Love Part 2

Staying In Love Part 3

Staying In Love Part 4

"I like to immerse myself in marriage stuff."

Tiffany made that comment to me when she sent me the links to the podcasts. It got me thinking, media is always saturating our minds with all the reasons why our marriages won't work. I need to start saturating myself with more podcasts, devotions, sermons, and anything else that will help me make sure my marriage not only lasts but flourishes.

So, tell me how did you like them?! Do you guys listen to podcasts? Am I just late in the game? ha!

  1. I can't wait to listen to these! Thanks for sharing!!

This isn't a podcast, but have you read the book by Francis Chan called, "You and Me Forever" ?
Our campus minister gave us the audio version of the book as a part of our wedding gift and I listened to it right after we got married on my way to and from work and on a couple of lunch breaks and I REALLY loved it!

    1. You're welcome!
I haven't read it, but I'll look into it! The more marriage books and audio sermons/books the better. It certainly can't hurt. Thank you for sharing! :)
