"You're gonna be hobo's!"

Well...not really, more like modern gypsies!

I didn't want to say what Jaime's job was for my safety (even though I have great aim, pew pew ;)) if we did buy a house. But now, I can give you more details! Jaime will travel for the next couple years for various lengths of time working on job sites for his company Gray Construction. They build large commercial buildings like: BMW plant in North Carolina, Caterpillar in Georgia, and Champion in Bowling Green, KY.

Jaime works all week down in Bowling Green and gets to come on the weekends for now. He could eventually work 10 days on and 4 days off. He'll be down there until October and we have no idea where the next project could take us. (Texas, Washington, Utah, Colorado, or California please.) I know what you're thinking and have had these responses since telling people about his job.

"You guys can't catch a break." "You poor things!" "That's just not good for your marriage."

We knew going into this career choice that he would work a lot and be gone quite a bit. We know people with families who work for Gray, that have nothing but good things to say. Of course we prayed about it, a lot. We just feel at peace with it. Although we had much different plans like I mentioned yesterday: jobs, house, start a family, we are accepting the new adventure that awaits for us.

After Jaime's first week, he said "I want you down there, I want you to come with me." My first thought was "I can't!" I had only been back to work for 3 weeks and that just wasn't part of the plan. I already had my mind set. There were too many "what ifs" going on in my mind and I got overwhelmed fast. My second thought was "Yes! Lets go be adventurous while we still can."

After seeking wisdom, prayer, and working things through with Jaime. We decided to buy a camper and to give my two week notice.

Last Sunday, we looked at a camper that had just been posted one hour prior and it was 'The One.' The owner even knew my family which later turned into a blessing. The next day (Monday), I had to tell my boss. My stomach was in knots and I felt so guilty. I prayed all weekend and morning to prepare her heart and give her peace. And you know what? When I walked into her office and started to tell her that Jaime wanted me to move with me, she stopped me and said she had been praying about it all weekend too. She could tell this was hard on me and that it might be just like the military life all over again. And it did kind of feel like that. That was a God thing. No other power could prepare her heart and lay this big change for our life on my husband's heart--all in the same weekend! I can't tell you guys enough how good God is! I left her office so happy I could cry. I get to live with my husband AND camp all summer long! Pinch me.

Ever since we got married, I've begged my husband to go camping. I even bought a tent, a metal rack to grill over a fire on, and a citronella candle on clearance after the camping season. We've moved them from house to house and they still have never been used. Because Jaime was in the Marines and has been in the field a lot (not the fun way of camping), he wasn't really up for it. It makes me laugh to think about how much camping we'll get to do, I can quit begging. haha! God must have been preparing my mind unrevealed to me because we asked for sleeping bags and a hammock this past Christmas.  It's so neat to see how God has been putting this together all along.

Referring to my post title,  I was telling my grandmother what the plan was. She said, "Well honey, you're gonna be hobo's but that's alright if that's what makes you happy." I thought that was hilarious. Camping has changed drastically since she was a little girl. It's more glamorous than she thinks, just with mosquitoes. Speaking of, if anybody has any tips for a girl that attracts mosquitoes like non other, feel free to leave a comment or email me. I'm afraid I'll be covered in poison ivy and bites all summer but...even still I'll be happy as a clam!

So to end this long post, Jaime and I will be traveling for a little while...TOGETHER. It's exciting and fun. We don't have children or anything tying us down. Yes, we wanted to be home and be with family again...but God knows best. Plus, I'm glad I don't have to share Jaime with everyone just yet. I love it just being us two. If you follow me on Pinterest, you probably could have guessed we bought a rv based on my new "Happy Campers" board I made last week. I would love to redo the inside but we'll see. Right now, I need to go digging in all our packed up boxes for kitchen and house supplies! I move with him next weekend and I cannot wait! Here's some pictures of the inside! We haven't moved much in yet, we just brought it to him Friday before we left for Arkansas this past weekend. It's been a whirlwind of a week, let me tell you!

Our guest bedding worked perfectly here.

Hall from our bedroom to the living area. Two closets, drawers, sink, more cabinets. Yes, that's Jaime ironing his clothes, I took these last night before bed. Yes, I stayed in Bowling Green for one more night with my husband and left at 5:30 our time this morning to make it in time for work.

Descent sized shower, using our shower curtain we already had.

Lots of shelving in the bathroom.

Living room, entertainment center, and hall way to the bedroom.

The previous owners pulled out the couch and table and put these in there. I love it. Except not getting to cuddle on a couch.

Lots of storage in the kitchen, descent sized.

Back room with bunkbeds, closet, and shelves.

I need to find bedding for the twin bunk beds.

We're pretty happy with our new purchase and the adventure that awaits us! Here's to a new chapter!

  1. You're going to love it! My in-laws decided to give us all of their furniture and hit the road when Cory and I got married. They said since their children were grown and on their own they wanted to travel. Now Cory's dad has a side show and they travel all over the East Coast. They spend all winter in Florida! I wish you both the best of luck!
