Book No. 7: The Storyteller

Well, that 2 for 2 Jodi Picoult! Such a great writer! Loved this book! It's my favorite so far in all the books I've read this summer!

This book is set in a modern age but revisits life during the Holocaust. Maybe it's just me, but I love to learn more about certain historical events. Even if it's just through a fictional book. It was so intriguing. Jaime even got annoyed with me during our trip to KY this past weekend because I was being a total book worm. ha! Couldn't stop reading.

I had hoped to have all 10 books read before September. My new goal is to finish the last three before the first day of fall. So that it will still count as a summer challenge. ha! Hope you've been reading some good books this summer too!

Book No. 6: Angels Walking

Karen Kingsbury's book Angels Walking was alright. There was a good storyline, I just didn't love it. Of course, I'm also not a fan of baseball. I brought it with me on our roadtrip this past weekend, only to find out I had about an hours worth of reading left and no new book with me to start. 

But I'm on book #7 and I need to finish it before the weekend to get all my books read before September/summer ends. Yikes! Talk about power reading! That also means I should probably stop binge watching One Tree Hill and do a little more reading on this rainy day off.

Book No. 5: A Moment of Weakness

Last week, this was all I did when baby girl took her naps. The three older sisters were gone for the week and I got a lot of good book reading and coffee/green tea sipping in! I love being a Nanny. Speaking of, I'll be looking for a new Nanny job to start when we come back from vaca next month. Another family with a baby preferably, it helps curve that baby ache in my heart and makes the wait a little more bearable.

So this was a quick and easy read. The plot wasn't too hard to figure out but I was still intrigued and wanted to finish it. Even christians have moments of weakness. I like that this book has shown how God forgives and loves His children despite our downfalls. Karen Kingsbury is a great writer and I love her easy-read kind of books.

I'm currently reading one of her best sellers: Angels Walking. This one has been a little hard for me to get into, maybe because I'm not a big sports fan, especially when it comes to baseball. So for the first quarter of it, I've been bored. But I'll keep reading and let you know how it goes!

Book No. 4: Leaving Time

It was only fitting to use this picture because I read most of this by the pool or while I was floating in it. Ah! Yes, summer time is my favorite.

This was such a good book! I stayed captivated through out the whole thing. My mind was blown on the end and even after I finished it, I couldn't wrap my mind around it. Did not see the ending coming! The book is about a young teenage girl looking for her mother and the mystery of her disappearance. She connects with two completely different individuals to help her with her search. I learned more about elephants than I ever have which gave this novel a fun twist as well.

There were a few curse words so be advised for young teenagers wanting to read. Definitely a great read though! I highly recommend! I can't wait to read more books written by Jodi Picoult.

Book No. 2: The Good Girl

The Good Girl was a good mysterious/eventful read with a interesting twist on the end. Seriously, I was like 'what??' after I finished the book.

I especially liked the way it was written! It was narrated by three characters and their relationship/view of The Good Girl. Each chapter was rotated between the three, kind of like how a movie would go.

I would definitely recommend this book. Very few curse words and no explict details, just insinuated. Go to your local library and check it out. Unless you like collecting books, then this one is good for your home library too!

I'm a quarter of the way into my third book for my summer challenge. I started a different one last week and could not get into it even after 100 pages so I decided to not waste my time. It was called The Book Thief. Ugh, not my type of read.

I took the girls to the library mainly because I told them I would last week and partly because I've been dying to find some more books. The girls were in heaven and so was I. It was a cloudy, overcast day and we needed out of the house.

I love Karen Kingsbury books, they are easy to read, usually a Christian romance (my fav), and entertaining.  I've never read anything by Jodi Picoult, but I know several people who have and loved her-so I'm excited.

Book No.1: The Goldfinch

So I finally finished my first book for my summer challenge. I started this book at my first Nanny job and the begining really interested me...but the further I got into it, the more I just wanted it to end. The ending wasn't even good, which is sad.

My brother had it as audio book so I did much of my 'reading' on the road. He liked it and says its a well written book. My opinion is that is just goes on and on with way too much detail.

I would not recommend this to any Christian. I wasn't aware of how much cursing was in it or the drug usage, bit of homosexuality, and in the end, talk about suicide.

It was hard to get through for me, all 771 pages of it. ha! 

But I'm glad and ready to read the next book my old boss let me borrow. 

It's The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. Hoping this one is better!

Anyone have any suggestions?! My goal is to read 10 books this summer so help a girl out!
